Vanilla Matcha Avocado Smoothie (gluten free, soy free)
makes: 1 serving
recipe from: choosing raw
recipe type: to blend, to smoothie, to breakfast 

what you need:
1/2-1 teaspoon matcha powder (to taste--take it easy if you're sensitive to caffeine!)
1 cup almond milk
1/2 small avocado
1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder (rice or pea will work best in this recipe) 
2 ice cubes

what to do:
Blend all ingredients till smooth.

Yum!

Turmeric has amazing health benefits and flavor. It is know  as a “healing spice” and is used to help anything from sore throats, colds, flus, stomach aches to wound healing, abrasions/skin issues due to it’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

So brewing a cup of hot turmeric or golden milk to fight a flue that has been torturing me all week was only more than perfect. Ans there is something about drinking hot milk in bed, such a comforting feeling.
Beat those germs!
 

Golden milk
recipe type: to drink, to snack, to breakfast

what you need:
2 cups (homemade) almond milk - so easy! see post here
1 tablespoon raw or local honey
1 tablespoon coconut oil - this is optional
1 teaspoon ground turmeric - this is going to turn your milk into gold
1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
small pinch of black pepper
grated ginger (fresh is best)

what to do:
Simply pour all ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to a light boil, whisk to combine ingredients. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for up to 20 minutes. If you have large pieces of ginger, cinnamon and peppercorn, strain the milk.
To serve, add honey or a dash of cinnamon.
Enjoy warm is best!

Soooo easy and delicious!!
Zero input a maximum of tastes as an output!
Love that kind of cooking!

And when hosting a dinner, you pop this into the oven and can actually spend time with your guest instead of working away in the kitchen!
Win Win!

 

Fish with coconut milk and fresh herbs
recipe from: Pascal Naessens - Puur Genieten
recipe type: to dinner, to bake
serves 4

what you need:
400 gr of white fish
15 little cherry tomatoes
4 spoons of coconut milk
2 limes
a lot of herbs, I used coriander, flat parsley and dil
1 garlic clove
1 red onion

I have to say that I added a lot more cherry tomatoes, used a lot more coconut milk and used that zucchini that was lying in my fridge... worked perfectly...

what to do:
Preheat the oven at 180C
Mix the coconut milk with the juice of 1 lime and some olive oil
season to taste with pepper, salt, and garlic
Chop the herbs
Divide the cherry tomatoes in two
Slice the other lime in slices
Take an over tray
Place the white fish, and add some herbs on top, drizzle the coconut sauce, and build from there.
Finish with the sauce and herbs.
Place the cherry tomatoes and the lime slices around all that.
Place it all in the oven at 180C for about 30min

Dig in!!

This guy, seriously!
We would be best buddies on a flight! Thats for sure.  
( If there is one thing I have learned from his instagram is that this guy can pack! An inflight meal that is!! )
Or we would be best food buddies, point.
Love how Kelly Slater is into healthy food, the nutritional values, fueling your body with the right nutrients and with all these benefits he is thriving on his surfboard!!

A lot of my friends surf, and don't give to much taught about what they put into their bodies before and after a surf session. (Most of the time it's a burger and a sandwich with maybe some type of cold-cut meat or nutella while sitting on the car at a supermarket parking lot - surf trip memories!)

I hope that Kelly, I mean its Kelly, 10.000 times world champion, best surfer ever, and lets not talk about his eyes… Will have some serious impact on how surfers, the burger eating ones, or even athletes look at food.
And hopefully get some of them into chia pudding, homemade nut milks or just mexican!

As soon as I saw this place I knew I was going to love everything about it!
The interior, the menu looked insane and what described as california-inspired, the vibe, the fonts used, the reviews…
I just had to go!!

Klein. is an agency, a creative space, a tiny shop ( they sell hot sauce people!!)  and brunch room started by a cool californian Jon and his wife Masa.
They have been all over the place before falling in love with this space. Allowing them to design cool objects ( have you seen that lamp!!) and develop furniture by laser cutting.
Meanwhile gathering all there food discoveries from various travels into weekly brunches ( little tip sake combines very well with a buratta and pear toast ;-))  and a creative menu is served weekly at their Dinner club.

The only thing I don't love about Klein, is that they only open on weekends.
I am sure they did that on purpose, so I would be craving there food all week long!!
Well, you know where to find me next weekend, and all the following weekends...
